Pamela Arseneau
Hello, and thank you for visiting my website.
I was born in Toronto in 1964, and by the age of about twelve had a well-entrenched interest in and desire to produce representational art. Disheartened in 1994 by a university professor of art history who boldly proclaimed that “realist art is dead, gone, never to return” I nevertheless maintained my belief that realism in art would indeed flourish again that in this age of high technology and of intellectual elitism in visual art in particular, that human nature would find only increasing need for art that it can relate to on a direct, uncomplicated - but not unintelligent - “real” basis.

The impossibility of obtaining the kind of training I desired in a university art program at that time led me to search elsewhere for an education in classical painting. In 1997 I began my 8-year, part-time studies at Angel Studios in Toronto under the direction of world-renowned painter and instructor, Michael John Angel, at what was then one of only a handful of such classical ateliers in the world. Over the years, my studies in painting and sculpture have also taken me to Florence, New York and London.
It turns out I was right back then in 1994, as indeed the number of realist art ateliers, students and professionals has exploded over these intervening years as galleries worldwide long-devoted to only modern works are now proudly and successfully showing and selling compelling, beautiful, challenging works of realist art. Hallelujah.
